Children & Young People
In Tyne Valley Parish we really value our children and young people. We encourage them and believe they are an important part of the future and the building of our church life.
Our main ministry with children and young people is through our monthly Messy Church services, held alternately in either North Middleton or Pathhead Village Hall. These are a wonderful time of singing, praise, messing about with crafts, bible stories, and eating together.
See our Messy Church page for further information.
Messy Church is for children to come along with an adult and everyone joins in! Adults are also now getting in to the 'crafts' with a special adults table for coffee, chats and learning to knit or crochet. Come on dads……let's find a craft for you to enjoy too!!
In Pathhead during the summer of 2015 we began a Youth Ministry with a difference. The 'difference' was using a double decker bus! This bus has been modified into a play bus with soft seating and it was quickly adopted as "our bus" by the 20 or more youngsters who regularly jumped on board for an evening of fun!
The bus proved to be an exciting venue for a fortnightly meeting place complete with tuck shop, games, chat and even sitting in the driver's seat and ringing the conductor's bell. The bus was parked in Callander Park on a Wednesday evening and allowed outdoor games and many opportunities to get to know the children coming along. The free hot chocolate was very popular at the close of the evening.
The Bus Ministry will be returning in early summer 2016 and will continue throughout the summer with a break during July.
Each year, during July we have a week long "Holiday Club" for primary school children in Pathhead Village Hall. This has between 50 and 60 children engrossed in games, competitions, activities, a bible drama and a soap drama - all once again building our relations between our church and the community children and bringing the message and love of Jesus closer to young, precious lives.
See our Holiday Club page for information and the contacts for the 2016 production of
"SNIFFER & CO" between 25th and 29th July.
Many of the children and young people we come in to contact with have no other involvement in church life. We see these contacts as vital and we love sharing God's love with all the young people who come and join in the activities.
